Equality & NIxburg News
Jennifer Williamson
I continue to work on the house and yard, but with much less time now that Jenny’s General is now on summer hours which are Tuesday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Jenny’s General may be adding a few new items to see if there is any interest as a last-ditch effort to see if it is worth keeping open, but sales are so low that bills are not being met, and that is not good. I do plan on closing the store by year’s end unless a miracle turn around happens.
Rodger’s Shrubbery greenhouse is coming down, not as quickly as I thought, but will be down soon.
This current weather pattern of weekend storms really puts a damper on getting anything significant accomplished when I only have the weekend to get things done like gardening, home renovations, animal care, and taking down a greenhouse. Little by little it will come down and be moved to its new home.
The Equality Volunteer Fire Department’s First Saturday Fundraising event is tomorrow, April 8. Please participate with baked goods, rummage sale donations and participation. Donations for breakfast, lunch, bake sale, and rummage sale all go to support the efforts needed to keep our fire department well equipped and growing to support our community.
It starts at 8 a.m. and closes at 1 p.m. Come early and stay or come early and return for lunch. Either way you won’t be disappointed with the fellowship and support of our community.
Coosa County Live has no events tonight. We decided that we will only open for events when someone calls requesting an event.
Well, we got a call. The band “Wasted Time” with members from Alexander City requested to perform this month on Friday, April 28. The guitarist, Cane, was part of the house band when he was in high school, and the lead singer, Stevie, was also part of the house band, as well as hosted a Halloween karaoke night a few years ago. She is full of energy and loves to sing.
So come out and enjoy some live music as it may be the last performance for the foreseeable future.
I depend upon my readers to share with me what is happening within your organizations, churches, neighborhoods, groups, or family to share in next week’s column. Please contact me; leave a voice message or text 256-531-6460 or email at coosacafe@gmail.com.
