I want to take this moment and give ALL nurses a big shout out. I have been blessed by so many of them, including family and friends. I wish I could name them all, but I cannot.
However, I must name three of them: my doctor’s, Dawn Culp; friend and Union Square resident, Lynne Taylor; and niece, Tasha H. Benson. There are so many others, and they deserve much more credit than they get. I thank God for them. I pray for them that God will give them the strength that they need to work with so many difficult people and their health, dealing with unclean, etc. people and their attitudes. My doctor’s nurses, especially Dr. Refai’s and Dr. Noble’s nurses.
I thank all the doctors, too, but this is the nurses’ time! Nurses are the people who are always there when somebody needs them. They know what to say and exactly what to do to turn the worst situation into a conquerable challenge.
Everybody calls on them. Everybody needs them. After all, they are strong enough, smart enough, tough enough to make it through anything and everything. There is something about contentment with working for and helping people throughout your life that nurses feel, and silently it says, “You need me.” However, “I need you.”
Nurses do need their patients to help them to grow stronger in life and have more patience with sick people. Thank you, nurses, all over the world, including the military.
Children’s Corner
Some years ago when my bonus grandson was about 4 or 5 he was the funniest little boy on the block, but not on purpose. He always made me and others laugh.
One time we were preparing to go to a cookout on a hot summer Fourth of July. He said to his parents, “Whoa, who wants to go where all that sweated food?” I laughed so hard, and he was serious, too.
I had been sick one time, and he came to see me. So a little while after that he asked his parents, very sincerely, “Is Mrs. Ruby still alive?” He was around the same age, 4 or 5.
Now in college, an honor student, he is studying acting and wants to be a comedian. He is definitely qualified. I saw Steve Harvey in him years ago.
