Union Square News

Union Square wishes two special people of the Square a very happy birthday, Mrs. Patsy Johnston and Pastor Ivor Smith. Happy birthday to all April babies.
Prayers and condolences go to the family of Mrs. Nellie Ferguson, a very nice lady, and the family of Mr. Frederick Owens, the father of former Sheriff Ricky Owens, a humble man of God.
I want to commend Pastor David Bass of Rockford Church of Christ on his column “Is unity possible?” Very inspiring and true, as well as all of his writings.
Last Sunday was a wonderful and blessed day for Butch and me. There have been some trying weeks for us lately, trying hard to wait on God to move in our favor. Well, He moved on Sunday all day in His own way, which was so needed.
Sunday morning we enjoyed a great moment worshiping the Lord, hearing Minister LaJerrell Hill preach the Word from Luke 12 and Daniel 3:23, “Don’t Limit God.” Wow, that was a sermon itself. However, Hill broke it down so well, a sinner would have understood.
My soul was fed to the highest, and one of my waiting prayers was answered. I ate some cake on a fast, and not saying this because Minister Hill is my nephew. I am saying it because it’s a fact, and he is LaJerrell Hill wherever he goes. The Word is in him.
This was held at Pastor Bobby Montgomery’s second pastor anniversary at Good Grove Church in Equality.
Sunday afternoon we attended a fellowship moment held at the Morning Star District, and we were fed more cake from Dr. Frankie Cousin and New Elam Baptist Church’s choir of Alexander City. I was full, but God allowed my cup to run over as David spoke in Psalm 23:5.
Dr. Cousin spoke from Romans 12:1-2, “Give it Up.” Be holy, renew your mind and surrender all. She brought it all to the table, and when the choir sang the song “While I am Waiting, I will Trust You, God” that put the icing on the cake, and I could not stop chewing. It was that good; another prayer was answered.
When I returned home God was still speaking to me. I opened up my phone to see this message from a prayer, my friend from New York. Here it is: “Remember God is always faithful to answer. Sometimes His answer is a much desired ‘yes.’ Sometimes His answer is a merciful ‘no.’ Sometimes His answer is a faith-building ‘not yet.’ And sometimes when an answer cannot be found, His answer is simply, ‘Trust Me.’”
And that’s what I will continue to do, is trust God. He has never failed me, and He will never!
