Union Square News
Ruby Johnson
March is the month we honor all women in any form of fashion. First, let’s honor a special lady of Union Square, deceased Mrs. Pat Windsor, who passed away last year, but will forever be remembered.
It hurts to think of her absence. She was such a beautiful lady inside and out. We all are missing her, especially now in March, as she will celebrate her birthday in Heaven on March 11. We say happy birthday, Pat! We love you and miss you!
Mother LaVerne Hannon of Union Square has a birthday on March 26 and will turn 95 years young and has kept the faith all these years living in the Square. God has really kept and blessed her after all she has gone through. She is a powerful woman of God, and we wish her many more blessed ones to come.
If any other women in the Square and community have a birthday in March, you are special, too. Happy birthday!
Happy birthday to Kayla Shone, who celebrates hers on March 2. Kayla is a very special wife and mother, and Rockford Church of God loves you very much.\
Union Square’s Lynne Taylor does not own a birthday in March, but she owns her special style. She is a lady of class, a bright and shining star, a great mother and grandmother, and a great nurse and friend. I am happy and honored to own her as my personal nurse and a friend. However, this is after her husband, Tim; Kaylyn; Opie; and her fur babies (LOL). She is modest, but her light shines so bright you can see it through her actions, writing great letters to the editor, etc. “Bravo” to her on last week’s letter, “It’s time to follow the red letters.”
Courtney Carden doesn’t have a birthday in March either, but has that March’s spirit, windy, moving fast, flying all over the place, and marching in a straight line and on time. I first met her when she was pregnant with her son Bryson (B), 13 years ago. I said something is special about her, and years later I learned what it was.
God gave her a special gift, discernment, and I witnessed her using it in church some weeks ago. That blessed my soul and hopefully blessed the church. We all need to use that gift from God. It helps build the kingdom of God and helps us to be more aware and focus more.
I can go on and on about many great women, but time and space won’t permit, but just a few more I will mention: Mamie Maxwell Ellis, daughter of Dr. Willie Lee Maxwell; Sheryl Goggans Borden, greatest singer and director of Coosa County; Mrs. C.K. May and Mrs. LeVelma Simmons (deceased), the greatest teachers of all time.
Children’s Corner
After Courtney Carden’s son B was born, I saw him in the Dollar General with his mother. He might have been 2 years old at the time. He was talking to me like he had been knowing me for years. I said to him, “You are a smart little boy. I knew you when you were in your mother’s stomach.” He said, “Wow, that was a thousand years ago.” Everyone in the store laughed. It was too funny. I will never forget that kid, and today he is 13 years old and smart as he can be for a 13-year-old child. We love him very much!
“Rise above the storm, and you will find the sunshine.”
