For the last five years Kaden and Carter Tindall have collected supplies and monetary donations for a Veterans Drive in honor of Veterans Day, delivering the items to Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City. They look forward to continuing that tradition this year.

While Veterans Day brings a sense of patriotism to many throughout the country, some take it even further and put that patriotic feeling into actions.
For the sixth year, Kaden and Carter Tindall of Rockford are once again collecting supplies and monetary donations to show residents at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home some extra love and appreciation for their service and sacrifice.
The local youths are now preparing for their annual Veterans Drive. Their mother, Jennifer Tindall, shared that their commitment to the supply drive every year is heartwarming.
They are now getting the word out that Kaden and Carter will be set up at the Dollar General in Rockford on U.S. Highway 231 South on Saturday, November 7, from 12 to 4 p.m. Area residents and passersby are encouraged to drop items off then, or items and monetary donations can also be dropped off at the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Additionally, Mrs. Tindall said that if any other area youth would like to join them next Saturday to help, they would be more than welcome.
Monetary donations go to the veteran’s home for residents to go on field trips and for other needs.
For the requested items, Tindall said that while Bill Nichols State Veterans Home takes “wonderful care” of the veterans and provides everything they need, her boys like to get extra items to help out and to show their appreciation this time of year.
Essential and comfort items that can be donated include body wash; body lotion or Vaseline; blankets and throws; hats; sweaters; caps; gloves; deodorant; toothbrushes; toothpaste; Kleenex or facial tissues; lip balm; shampoo and conditioner; hairbrushes; combs; assorted board games; and assorted music CDs, including country, bluegrass, classical, jazz, rhythm and blues, patriotic, seasonal, oldies, and rock and roll.
Kaden and Carter are also accepting donations of snack items for the veteran residents. Those items that can be donated include varieties of snack cakes; a variety of chips and crackers; soft drinks and sports drinks, both regular and sugar-free; a variety of chocolate candy bars; both regular and sugar-free cookies and snack pudding cups; and fruit cups.
After collecting donations, the Tindalls will personally deliver everything to Bill Nichols State Veterans Home. They appreciate the support of the community for their sixth Veterans Drive and look forward to making the delivery again this year.
