A Talladega woman was arrested last month on a drug-related charge following a traffic stop.
On May 16, Deputy Kelley was patrolling on U.S. Highway 280 when he observed a vehicle with heavily tinted windows and conducted a traffic stop.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that as Kelley approached the vehicle he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Hammond said the driver was asked if she had any marijuana inside the vehicle or if she had smoked any recently.
Kelley also measured the window tint and found that it was 3%. As the driver retrieved her license, she advised Kelley that she had a firearm.
She stepped out of the vehicle, and Kelley retrieved the firearm. Hammond said Kelley was also given consent to search the vehicle.
Kelley asked the driver again if she had marijuana, and she reportedly confirmed she did, stating it was in the center console.
A full search was conducted, and Kelley found a bag containing a green leafy substance that smelled of marijuana.
Amber Nicole Adams, 39 years old, was arrested and charged with second-degree possession of marijuana.
Her bond was set at $2,500. She was released on bond the same day to await trial.
