A Prattville man was arrested last month for reckless endangerment following a high-speed pursuit.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on April 12, while stationary in the Stewartville area, Deputy Parker observed a vehicle traveling at an excessively high rate of speed, 118 mph.
As Parker pulled out to catch up with the driver, he saw another patrol car with its blue lights on approaching. Dispatch confirmed that Talladega County was pursuing the vehicle into Coosa County’s jurisdiction.
While pursuing the driver, the vehicle reportedly crossed the yellow line multiple times and almost collided head on with a tractor trailer. During the pursuit the driver turned off his lights, and deputies lost contact, at which point they were instructed to discontinue the pursuit.
Deputy Parker returned to the location where the vehicle was last seen. He found the vehicle where it appeared to have left the roadway and struck a ditch.
He advised dispatch that he had located the vehicle and the driver.
After locating them, 22-year-old Javeon LaMorris Vansandt was arrested and charged with attempting to elude law enforcement and reckless endangerment.
His total bond was set at $12,500. He was released on bond on April 13 to await trial.
