Special to the News
My name is Kimberly D. Crowe. I am a proud graduate of Coosa Central High School, Class of 2000.
I went on to earn an associate’s degree in science from Central Alabama Community College and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Jacksonville State University. My career has always focused on serving others.
During college, I worked at The Learning Tree, supporting children and adolescents with developmental disabilities. I worked for the Alabama Department of Youth Services, where I helped provide supervision and rehabilitation for youth involved with the juvenile court system.
After the birth of my daughter, Karissa, I chose to return home to Coosa County to raise her in the same strong, close-knit community that shaped me. I worked part-time as a front desk receptionist at Coosa County Family Dentistry while staying home with her. When she began pre-K, I accepted my current position as a paralegal at Nancy Kirby Law Office, LLC.
Today, my daughter is a fourth-grade student at Central Elementary School, where my mother, Shirley Crowe, has proudly served as a substitute teacher for 14 years.
I am an active and involved parent at CES and have enjoyed coaching baseball and cheer with Upward Sports. I am also a parent volunteer with Girl Scout Troop 6032, which was reestablished in Coosa County last year.
My life, career and family are deeply rooted in Coosa County. I am committed to supporting our schools, strengthening our community and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.
My visions for improving our school system include:
- Maintain a strong safety presence on campus, including consistent School Resource Officer (SRO) coverage
- Improve communication systems for emergencies between schools, parents and law enforcement
- Promote safe school bus practices and enforce roadway safety around buses
- Create a positive work environment where teachers and staff feel valued and heard
- Increase opportunities for teacher input in decision-making
- Support ongoing professional development and classroom resources
- Recognize and celebrate teacher and staff achievements regularly
- Ensure every student has a clear path to succeed – whether college, career, or technical training
- Expand tutoring, mentoring and intervention programs for students who need extra support
- Provide more enrichment opportunities for advanced learners
- Enforce consistent discipline policies across all schools
- Take a firm, proactive stance against bullying
- Promote respect, responsibility and kindness among students
- Encourage student leadership and character-building programs
- Build stronger partnerships between schools, families and local organizations
- Increase volunteer and mentorship opportunities within schools
- Improve communication so parents feel informed and involved
- Host more community events that bring families into the schools
- Keep parents and community members informed about decisions and changes
- Make school board actions and priorities easy to understand
- Ensure fairness and consistency across all schools in the district
- Set clear goals and regularly share progress with the community
- Expand extracurricular activities, including arts, athletics and clubs
- Strengthen career readiness programs, including partnerships with local businesses
- Increase access to technology and hands-on learning opportunities
- Support programs that help students explore their interests and talents
- Continuously look for ways to improve and grow as a school system
- Encourage innovation while staying focused on what works best for students
- Invest in facilities and resources that support long-term success
On May 19, I would greatly appreciate your support and vote for Coosa County Board of Education District 4.
