Lamar Daugherty has officially announced his candidacy for re-election to the Coosa County Commission, District 5, seeking to continue the work he began during his current term serving the citizens of District 5 and all of Coosa County.
During his time in office, Daugherty has worked to manage the county responsibly, protect taxpayer dollars and create opportunities for steady economic growth. He has worked to ensure that county resources are managed wisely while supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening local services and improving quality of life for residents.
Among his most notable accomplishments, Daugherty is proud to have been part of the startup of the first countywide ambulance service in the state of Alabama – an effort that has significantly improved emergency response and access to care across Coosa County. He also honors the late Ronnie Joiner, whose leadership and vision helped bring attention to the critical need for a countywide ambulance system and set this important initiative in motion.
Daugherty acknowledges that serving in public office comes with challenges and a continual learning process. He values the experience he has gained and remains committed to making thoughtful, informed decisions that benefit the entire county.
Daugherty has completed the mandatory course work for commissioners, but has also completed an additional, optional 70-hour course to be more educated and informed when performing his duties as commissioner.
Looking ahead, Daugherty’s priorities include fostering economic growth opportunities, supporting responsible development and continuing to strengthen the county’s financial position. He is committed to building partnerships that attract investment while preserving the character and values of Coosa County. He also remains dedicated to being accessible, responsive and a strong advocate for all constituents.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve District 5 and for the trust the people have placed in me,” Daugherty said. “If re-elected, I will continue working diligently to help move our county forward while representing our citizens with integrity and dedication.”
Daugherty respectfully asks for the continued support and vote of the citizens of District 5 in the upcoming primary election on May 19.
