A bit of Black History: Some years ago there was a well-known restaurant in Alexander City named Mama Ella’s Country Kitchen, and it was the best restaurant in town. People came from out of town to eat there.
My son and his family from North Carolina would come visit me and would make that their first stop to eat. I was happy I did not have to rush to cook.
Well, Mama Ella isn’t here anymore. However, there is one in Rockford called the LeeBoys Bar-B-Q, but it should be named Mama Annie and Daddy Felton Lee’s Country Kitchen.
They have the best soul food – fried chicken that taste like it is fried in an old, iron, black skillet, which cooks the best; and fried fish, whole and filleted. They even have fried ribs, which I have never eaten before, and they are so good, although I don’t need to eat them.
I have not tried their pork chops, but I heard they were great, as well. The vegetables are super good – fresh, not from the can.
Super Bowl Sunday was super all the way. We stopped and got dinner to take home to eat and watch the game. The special for the day was fried ribs, collard greens, yams, and cornbread. Yum, yum. It was the best soul dinner I had in a long time.
The greens, yams and cornbread (not Jiffy) were fresh and all made from scratch. The food was so great it helped me to be a winner all together – great food, great game. Super Bowl Sunday turned into Super Meal Sunday. I was a winner! Congratulations to the Seahawks, the champs.
Please help me pray, y’all. Something has to be done about the mail. More on it next week. It is worse than terrible. I am afraid to mail anything. I sent certified mail and tracking on January 16, and the person still has not received it yet. I called, and it’s flowing around. I am so angry!

Happy birthday to all February babies.
Let’s pray for our country.
