Central High School proudly recognizes Charley Franklin, a seventh grader from Hollins, as November’s Student of the Month. Charley, the daughter of Melissa Hammonds, is known for her positive attitude, dedication to learning and friendly nature that brightens every classroom she enters. Her teachers describe her as a motivated student who consistently goes above and beyond in her studies and demonstrates respect and kindness toward everyone she meets. Charley’s favorite subject is math, simply because she loves her teacher. Ms. Belyeu describes Charley as “a great math student and a wonderful person.”
Charley approaches each lesson with curiosity and determination, inspiring her classmates to do their best. Outside of school, she enjoys selling rabbits, singing and playing with her dog. Charley hopes to one day become a veterinarian, UPS driver, or salesperson. Central High is proud to honor Charley for her hard work and the positive example she sets for others.

Congratulations to Alona Shehan, Central High School’s eighth-grade Student of the Month for November. Alona, the daughter of Hanna Rudd and James Shehan, represents the Stewartville community and stands out as a responsible and kind student who takes great pride in her work. Her teachers praise her for her positive attitude, helpful nature and consistent effort in all that she does. They shared, “Alona is always friendly, positive and helpful. She finishes her work ahead of schedule almost every time. She shows support for her peers by attending football games and cheering for the team, band members, cheerleaders, and the dance team.”
Alona’s favorite subject is math, which she enjoys for the logical thinking and problem-solving skills it develops. She says, “I learn the most in my math class.”
Her enthusiasm for learning and commitment to excellence make her a model student among her peers. Central High celebrates Alona’s achievements and the leadership she brings to the classroom every day.

Central High School proudly announces Christopher “CJay” Franklin as the ninth-grade Student of the Month for November. CJay, the son of Melissa Hammonds, is from Hollins and is known for his determination, respectfulness and strong sense of responsibility. His teachers recognize his consistent efforts to maintain high academic standards and his ability to collaborate well with classmates. They note, “Christopher is a hard worker who puts in time both in and out of the classroom to ensure his work is completed. He approaches faculty and staff respectfully when asking for assistance or permission, even when the answer isn’t what he hopes for. He has stepped up as a leader in his Career and Technical Student Organization, gets along well with classmates and maintains good grades.”
CJay’s favorite subject is math, which challenges him and sharpens his problem-solving skills. “Math is just fun,” he says.
A member of the Central High baseball team, CJay also enjoys fishing and hunting in his spare time. He hopes to one day play professionally in Major League Baseball. Central High commends CJay for his academic dedication, leadership and exemplary character.

This month’s tenth-grade Student of the Month, A’maiya Jackson, proudly represents Kellyton. The daughter of Beverly Jackson, A’maiya is admired by her teachers for her diligence, respectfulness and leadership. She consistently displays a commitment to her studies and a willingness to help her classmates, earning the respect of both peers and staff. Her teachers describe her as “sweet and upbeat,” adding, “A’maiya brings positivity into the classroom every day and is always willing to lend a helping hand. She is an outstanding young lady.”
A’maiya’s favorite subject is science, where she enjoys exploring how the world works and applying her knowledge to real-life situations. Her curiosity and enthusiasm make her a standout student. She is an active member of the dance team, Key Club, Beta Club, Student Government Association, FCCLA, and Media Club, and enjoys photography and poetry. A’maiya aspires to become a neurologist or Realtor in the future. Central High congratulates her for her dedication to excellence and her positive impact on the school community.

Central High School honors Mason Lucas as the eleventh-grade Student of the Month for November. Mason is a hardworking and dependable student who consistently demonstrates integrity and perseverance. His teachers describe him as someone who approaches every challenge with a calm, thoughtful attitude and sets a strong example for his peers. Mason’s work ethic and dedication speak volumes. He continues to impress his teachers with his eagerness to learn and his respectful demeanor. Central High commends Mason for representing the values of responsibility and excellence that define the school’s student body.

The twelfth-grade Student of the Month for November is Charles Tillman, a senior whose leadership and commitment to success make him an outstanding representative of Central High School. Charles is the son of Stephanie and Charles Tillman, a member of the Mt. Olive community and attends Calvary Baptist Church. Teachers describe him as dependable, hardworking and respectful – qualities that have earned him admiration from both peers and staff. Charles’s favorite subject is history, as he enjoys learning how the past has shaped the present.
His academic achievements, character and athleticism set him apart as a true role model. Charles is a Central High football player and an active member of the SGA, Key Club, Upward, Media Club, and JAG. His future plans include attending a four-year university and making a positive difference in the world. As he prepares for graduation, Central High proudly celebrates Charles for his accomplishments and the leadership he demonstrates for underclassmen.
