It was so nice to get some rain this past week. I hope we get some more so I can over seed my lawn and get the pasture growing soon.
We have been working with our new LGD, and they are learning quickly to stay in the yard and not to chase the barn cats. I think they are very happy to be living with us, and we haven’t had any issues with missing livestock since they have arrived. Now I can focus on staining some trim I stripped all the paint from so they can be installed in the house again.
Jenny’s General got in some pansies and snap dragon flowers this past week and sold out most. There are a few flats left with violas and snap dragons for some fall and winter garden color.
The order was for more flowers, but there is such a demand in the area that when we picked up many of the flowers already sold out. We had our order a month early, so that is how high the demand is for many of the cool weather flowers and plants.
Please continue to support ongoing activities such as by Kendrick Memorial Baptist Church’s yard sale, held most Saturdays starting at 8 a.m. Address is 5152 Ala. Highway 9 in case you haven’t noticed it driving on Highway 9. Elaine Rutledge of Nixburg hosts Rummikub at the Alexander City Senior Center in the Sportplex every first and third Friday starting at 10 a.m.
This month’s Neighborhood Watch meeting is on the fourth Thursday, October 23, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Please plan on joining for safety information, community fellowship and a great meal that Dave Dial provides for the community, that you can donate toward if you like.
Save the date for the last Saturday in October, the 25th, as EVFD Bingo will return from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Lots of fun and prizes with proceeds supporting our wonderful volunteer fire department.
