Richville Rundown

Hopefully, the storm that’s in the West Gulf won’t develop into a hurricane, or if it does it’s a small one. The forecast is still developing, but we would be on the bad side if it continues into Hurricane Isais!
The forecast is calling for a rainy weekend, but we really need the rain.
The Central Cougars’ football schedule shows they played Reeltown at home last night. Next week’s game against Lanett is also scheduled for Thursday night.
Last week, because of weather, they changed the Friday game to Thursday. So hopefully, they had a successful night.
Don’t forget the Old Rock Jail will only be open for two more Sundays before it closes until April next year. It is open from 2 to 4. Admission is $3! So, make plans to come check it out.
The Coosa County Historical Society will have its regular quarterly meeting on Sunday, October 25, at the Rockford Senior Center at 2 p.m. This will be a “Show and Tell” so bring your interesting artifacts to show. In order to make sure everyone has a turn, please limit your talk to about three minutes.
You don’t have to be a member to attend or bring something to show. So, mark your calendars.
This month is Pastor/Minister Appreciation Month. So, remember your pastors/ministers, if no other way, at least in prayer. This is a time of the year to show your appreciation for all your ministers/pastors do for you and the church.
My Bible verses this week are about appreciation for pastors. I Thessalonians 5:12-13 reads, “Now we ask you, brothers, to give recognition to those who labor among you and lead you in the Lord and admonish you, and to regard them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.”
We need to acknowledge and respect our spiritual leaders in the church. They work hard for the church in many ways that we don’t see. They spend many hours in prayer and Bible study to bring a sermon that the Lord gives them.
We need to love and care for them for the tasks they perform. They are on call 24/7 to minister to not only the congregation, but the community, as well.
Finally, work with them in peace and harmony for the good of the church. The church should care for their pastor just as he cares for the church. However, often the church does not return the love and care that the pastor extends.
The pastor is to oversee and guide the church. The church has to do its part in helping with the mission of the church, as well as showing love and kindness to the pastor.
Paul is instructing the church to be a participant in the mission of spreading the gospel, as well as taking care that the spiritual leader is not isolated. The biblical expectation of the church includes everyone, not just the pastor, to promote.
Pray for those that have lost loved ones in our community or that are ill. Remember the shut-ins in our community, as well. They don’t just need our prayers, but can benefit from visits, also, even if it’s just a phone call.
