The Johnsons are preparing to celebrate “The Legacy of Earlie and Beatrice Johnson,” honoring their grandchildren, greats, etc., and Satan has really been busy on his job. But God!
When you have a relationship with God, you will have peace – real peace! “Peace” with God is more than simply a feeling. It’s a gift we receive through faith in Jesus. Whether we feel close to God or not, His peace is available to us, at the hospital, in times of serenity and times of chaos, and I praise Him for being King of Kings, Lord of Lords and far more than I can handle alone.
You can’t keep a good man down. Coach Flowers and his boys took another one down with a big win last Friday, despite one getting hurt, but he is OK. He happens to be my great-great-nephew. We are praying for him and all of the other boys.
Football is not an easy sport, but we all love it. When my boys were playing years ago Kareem would get hurt seemed like every game, and I hated it. When my grandson Chesley wanted to play, I said “no.” He got angry, but I got happy! It wasn’t only the fear of getting hurt. His grades were not pleasing to me. I have enough people in my family to play football and basketball. My 3-year-old great-grandbaby Chayce is playing soccer.
I am a little under the weather this week, but I trust God. He is my strength when I am weak. We can truly be strong by knowing we are not strong and by trusting God to give us His strength.
His grace is sufficient for us. His power is made perfect in weakness (II Corinthians 12:9) Jesus spoke it, and I believe it. Actually, I know it. God’s strength works through us, doing things only He can do!
Sorry I missed David Weeks on Sunday. I would have loved to see him and give him a big hug. I have not seen him since the passing of his dad, Bro. Wayne Weeks. We are still missing Bro. Weeks like crazy. Rockford Church of God is not the same without Bro. Weeks, a great man to remember.
Let’s still pray for the family and the family of Mr. Jimmy Hicks and also Joseph Carden in the loss of his uncle Larry. Great people never die in our hearts.
Happy birthday to Lady Vickie Hicks and to all September born.
Best birthday wishes go to Coach/Deacon Joe Belyeu and Charlie Simpson, Jacob Thrash and Teasie Thrash.
