In Equality, Jenny’s General Store has gotten a facelift. Fresh coat of paint, updated trim, cleaned up front porch, but the biggest impact is the greenhouse is coming down.
A local couple has been working on it for a few days and cleared out the interior, and as of last weekend the front half is down. It has really opened up the space around the store, and I am not waiting for quotes on painting the side of the building and updating the sign out front. We will be hanging a digital sign that will be shared with Coosa County Live to announce future events, display the time, say hello, things like that.
On the interior there has been some rearrangement of shelving and products, and the bathroom is being renovated. I am not sure when I will get that finished, but it was a must after the back outside wall deteriorated because of water damage, and we found evidence of past termite damage, as well. So had to gut the space and rebuild it.
While I am at it, I am also updating the Coosa County Live side of the building with a new sound booth with storage underneath to put all the guitar cases and extra amplifiers.
Later this fall we will do a bit of an event, like a grand reopening. Rodger’s band might play a bit, while folks can browse and sample some of the new healthy snack options Jenny’s General is considering adding to its selection. So stay tuned for that upcoming date.
