Vote for Pedro! I saw one of these signs on a flight to town last week. For those who don’t know, this is a reference to a mediocre comedy movie from the 1980s. All joking aside, as I write this, the municipal election is going on.
I hope you vote! May you choose leadership over politics, community interest over self-interest, and maturity over a bully.
I also hope that you are thankful. Thankful that we have at least two people willing to serve as mayor. Thankful that we do not have lines, transportation and parking issues, and crowds that make people need mail-in ballots. Thankful that in Rockford, voting is a civil and friendly civic process.
“The News” is still selling T-shirts as a reminder of the importance of our voting system.
