The Cougar football team has been building strength and skills during summer workouts, and now they are having an opportunity to see what that translates into on the field.
Their first summer game play took them to Tallassee High School for a 7-on-7 game. The Cougars had an opportunity to show what they have against Lafayette, Southside Selma and Holtville.
Coach Flowers said, “It was a great afternoon. Corey Thompson led the team in scoring with five touchdowns. Javon Peterson also had a strong showing with two touchdowns and two touchdowns thrown, as well as Waylon Chapman Allen who scored four touchdowns.”
The team is looking forward to more 7-on-7 summer play games at Wadley at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 8; and at Centerpoint at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10.
The strength the team is showing in the summer is really getting everyone excited for the upcoming fall season.
Central Coosa’s opening game has the 2A Cougars pitted against the 6A Sylacauga Aggies, at Sylacauga, August 22 at 7 p.m.
