Another one of those weeks where I had lots of ideas to write about, but once I found time to sit down all the thoughts ran and hid. I did spend some time working in our front room, hanging an antique ceiling fan, then finding I wired it wrong so I had to take it down, fix the wiring and hang it back up.
It ran beautifully for three hours then just quit. I will be ceiling fan shopping now and so far, I don’t like any of the modern stock items at the local home improvement stores. I want something Victorian in style to go with the style of the house, but replicas and restored ones I have found cost more than a couple of months’ wages, which are out of my price range.
I woke up Sunday morning to some tripped circuit breakers. Not sure if there is yet another short somewhere or perhaps the night’s storms impacted. But after resetting the circuit breaker I found a series of outlets dead, so now thinking it is a short and I will need to be crawling under the house to sort it out when it is dry enough. So, when will this rain stop? Next week? Next month?
I hope the rain lets up soon. The grass needs mowing, garden needs tending, and my new goslings need a shelter and fenced-in run to keep them safe from the predators that feast on my livestock. Not that I will be very productive now that the temperatures are typically Alabama intolerable, along with the humidity. If I can spend a couple of early morning hours dry enough to get some things done that would help a lot.
Did you know there are two egg stands in Equality? One is on County Road 4 at the Allen Farm. You will have to pull in their driveway. The stand sits just right of their gate, so no need to go through the gate. They carry both hatching and eating eggs from chickens, quail and sometimes turkey. The other is on Loboe between Self and Forbus roads with fresh chicken eggs. So, no matter what side of town you are on there are farm-fresh eggs available, and both have honor boxes so please do the right thing and pay for what you take.
The Neighborhood Watch meeting is the fourth Thursday of the month, which is June 26 at 6:30 at Equality VFD Lodge. Everyone is welcome to come fellowship with the community and find out what is happening in Coosa County.
