Equality & NIxburg News
Jennifer Williamson
We had a perfect weekend to be working on the yard; however, we went to a family wedding and to visit with some family members. It was nice to see everyone; it was also very nice to come home.
Needless to say, no yard work for me this past weekend because by the time I got home on Sunday I was just too exhausted to get out in the yard.
Hopefully this week I will get that root cut out so I can move the fence for the water meter checkers and put in a few more plants. I hope, but the store had new products that I really hope folks come in and at least look at, and maybe even purchase.
Speaking of, there are some plants left, and if you come to Jenny’s General and mention this column, we will give you 25% off. They need to go into the ground soon, and the weather is perfect. There are some herbs, summer squash and marigolds for you to choose from.
This month’s Neighborhood Watch meeting will be the fourth Thursday, April 24, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Equality Volunteer Fire Department Lodge building on Highway 9. If you missed last month’s meeting, we had a wonderful dinner prepared by Dave Dial and the team which included tacos and spaghetti. This month there will be another fine dinner I am sure, as well as the sheriff’s report, EVFD report and local announcements, as well as plenty of fellowship with our community residents.
Once again, the EVFD will be selling butts/ribs for Memorial Day weekend in May. More details to come, but please let Susan Selman or Jackie Dean know if you would like to reserve yours. EVFD has sold out the last few years, and as you know, it’s really good! Thanks for your continued support.
Coosa County Live has no events tonight. There will be a live performance next Friday, April 25, from the band Wasted Time.
Their band members are from the Alexander City area and trying to get some exposure and requested to perform this month. The guitarist, Cane, was part of the house band when he was in high school, and the lead singer, Stevie, was also part of the house band, as well as hosted a Halloween karaoke night a few years ago. She is full of energy and loves to sing.
So come out and enjoy some live music as it may be the last performance for the foreseeable future.
I depend upon my readers to share with me what is happening within your organizations, churches, neighborhoods, groups, or family to share in next week’s column. Please contact me; leave a voice message or text 256-531-6460 or email at coosacafe@gmail.com.
