Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
First Friday in March! Happy birthday to all celebrating birthdays this month.
Last weekend was sure a doozy with all the storms and power outages across the county then freezing temperatures. Hopefully our weather will improve, and we do have an early spring. I want to thank all the electrical company workers that worked so hard to restore power as quickly as possible.
This past week has been from sunny and warm to windy and stormy. Predictions are cold weather before more rain later this weekend. March seems to be coming in like a lion, so hopefully it will go out like a lamb.
The saying is based on the idea that if the month starts harshly, it will end better. It also represents the transition from winter to spring. However, we have often experienced wintry weather events occurring into April. So, the question goes back to, “Will we have an early spring?” I sure hope so!
The Richville Volunteer Fire Department Bingo will be tomorrow, March 8. So, make plans to come out for a good time. It starts at 6 p.m., and you play 20 games for $10. There are a variety of prizes to choose from, so everyone who wins can find something. Concessions are also available. So, come out and support our fire department.
Don’t forget about the free tax clinic at Rockford Methodist Church Fellowship Hall each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This is the weekend we “Spring Forward.” So don’t forget to move your clocks, stoves, microwaves, etc. forward one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night. Of course, now many of our devices are “smart” and update by themselves.
This week’s Bible verse is about change. II Corinthians 5:17 reads, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
This is a change of time and of season. As we prepare for the arrival of spring, we should prepare ourselves by renewing our faith in God. This verse tells us that Christian faith centers around change. It is ever changing, not just turning over a new leaf.
Our faith changes as we grow in our relationship with God. It’s just as a baby grows into an adult; they’re still our child. That’s what our faith should do, change into a more mature understanding as we grow in Christ. God works differently in each of our lives with unique outcomes, but all with the same ending, the love of Christ.
Be in prayer for all those that are sick in our community. But also, think about giving someone a call just to say hello; it will make a difference in their day. Many times, when we go out to spread blessings to others, it’s us that gets the blessing.
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
