The Pride of Coosa County band attended the Alabama Symphony Orchestra (ASO) at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, Alys Stephens Center. These Coffee Concerts enable middle and high school students to enjoy a mini version of the ASO’s Masterworks Concerts.
The symphony featured world-renowned soloists, movie music and symphonies by great composers such as Tchaikovsky, Mahler and Brahms. The Pride of Coosa County band director, Daryl Ingram, said, “They had a wonderful day of music thanks to the Epps Foundation who sponsors the trip for our band students.”
In the spring, the Pride of Coosa County band was able to practice under the direction of Daniel Cho, the assistant director of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, before they went to competition in Florida, so it was a special treat to attend the ASO in person.
Thank you to Mr. Ingram for organizing the field trip and parent Brandi Childress for serving as a chaperone.
