As part of their ecosystem unit, Mrs. Newsome’s fifth graders used microscopes to observe prepared slides of pond organisms. They also observed living microorganisms, including Euglena, Volvox and Paramecium. They learned the parts of the microscope, the correct way to use a microscope and how to make a wet mount slide of living aquatic microorganisms. They had a fabulous time! Pictured are Jacob Harris and Briggs Bullard, Jamie Hayes, Carmelo Herron. Thank you to Coosa County Schools science coach Shelley Wood for sharing pictures and information.
