The Coosa County Career Technical Center’s Computer Science Discoveries class has been conducting hands-on experiments to explore the different forms of energy and how they are transformed into usable forms. Students master forms of energy and their transformations to visualize how it can be used in the world around them. The students conducted experiments with different forms of energy and must decide on which natural form will be used to power a community set in a post-apocalyptic world. They also used 3-D printers to create the dwellings and equipment that will be used to harness the natural energy. The purpose of the project is to teach the students how science and technology are dependent upon one another. The science kits are part of the NEED (National Energy Education Development Project) and were donated by the Central Alabama Electric Cooperative. Thank you to instructor Brett Thomas for leading the students in this great project and sharing information and pictures.
