Ethan Cosby was dominant on the bump, as the starting pitcher rang up 12 strikeouts in Central’s 13-1 victory over Talladega on Tuesday. Cosby surrendered one hit and one run over five innings while walking three.
Central won thanks in part to seven runs in the third inning. Kendall Luke drew a walk, scoring one run; CJ Franklin drew a walk, scoring one run; Cosby tripled, scoring three runs; and a wild pitch scored one run.
A walk by Cosby put Central on the board in the bottom of the first. A single by Cosby gave Central the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the second.
Central amassed nine hits in the game. Cosby led Central with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 3-for-3 on the day.
Bryant Wickersham and Franklin each collected multiple hits for Central.
Central had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 11 walks for the game. Luke, Javarious Wilson, Waylan Chapman, and Franklin led the team with two free passes each.
Cosby threw two immaculate innings for Central where the starting pitcher struck out the side on nine pitches.
Haven Williams, Cosby, Wilson, Wickersham, Keenon Richardson, Chapman, Jacob Stevens, and Franklin each stole multiple bases for Central. Central ran wild on the base paths, amassing 23 stolen bases for the game.
Central was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Franklin had the most chances in the field with 12.
Next up for Central of Coosa County Varsity Cogars is a game at Horseshoe Bend on Tuesday.
