NACA (Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America) continues to follow-up with workshops on Saturday, February 25, after the historic NACA homeownership event sponsored by county leader Unzell Kelley, former Coosa County commissioner and President of J.D. Thompson Community and Economic Development Corporation, over the MLK holiday.
Both homebuyers and homeowners can begin the process to access NACA’s Best in America Mortgage: no down-payment, no closing costs, no fees, no mortgage insurance with the lowest fixed interest rate without consideration of one’s credit score.
The all-day event will have two homebuyer workshops from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free to the public, and walk-ins are welcome. NACA will be hosting workshops in at least 20 different locations in parts of Alabama, Georgia, Texas, and Louisiana.
Unzell Kelley stated, “NACA has answered the call for rural communities. Now it is up to rural communities to respond. Coosa, Tallapoosa, and all surrounding areas; let’s return to finish the work and get qualified on February 25, 2023. ‘Faith without works is dead.’ – James 2:14-26.”
“NACA held a never-been-done-before multiple locations Achieve the Dream event to start off 2023. We are not only continuing to serve people in remote locations, but we’re also expanding,” stated Bruce Marks, NACA CEO and founder. “NACA will continue to do what other lenders only talk of doing. We have the Best in America homeownership programs plus advocacy for additional resources that disadvantaged populations have been denied. This is NACA’s mission – doing what is necessary in the fight for economic justice.”
The Coosa County workshop will be held Saturday, February 25, at Peace and Goodwill (Community Life Center) in the Cottage Grove community, located at 188 Coosa County Road 30, Kellyton. There are two time windows available for convenience – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Started in 1988, NACA is the largest HUD-approved nonprofit, community advocacy and homeownership organization in the United States. NACA has been the forefront in fighting predatory lending and was the first to campaign against predatory lenders in the 1980s, coining the term “predatory lending.”
NACA has been the most effective organization in providing affordable solutions to more than 500,000 homeowners during the mortgage crisis. NACA provides the best mortgage in the country through its 47 offices nationwide.
NACA’s founder and CEO Bruce Marks was named Bostonian of the Year for 2007 for his work getting the major lenders and servicers to modify home loans. He has also testified before Congress on numerous occasions including September 12, 2000, being one of the few to sound the alarm of the pending mortgage crisis.
