Nicholas Heard was arrested for assault in a shooting that occurred Sunday in Kellyton.

A shooting that occurred in the Kellyton community Sunday has resulted in one man being behind bars with the investigation remaining ongoing.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that the Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a 911 call regarding a Black male being shot with a shotgun. Deputies and investigators responded to the scene at County Road 77.
Nicholas Heard, 41 years old of Kellyton, has been arrested and charged with first-degree assault in connection to the shooting. He was arrested Tuesday, February 14.
The offense occurred after 4:30 p.m. Sunday on County Road 77 in Kellyton. The case is still being investigated at this time.
Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922. Howell said that they appreciate people reaching out to them with any helpful information they may have.
Heard’s bond has been set at $30,000, and as of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail in Rockford awaiting trial.
