After a successful basketball and soccer season, Coosa Upward launched its inaugural flag football and cheer season with 51 youth participating.
This year-round county-wide youth sports program provides an opportunity for youth to grow athletically while honoring God and their country. Coosa Upward Sports is thankful to the churches, community leaders and volunteers who have made the program possible by volunteering their time and providing financial support.
Registration for the upcoming Coosa Upward baseball and softball season will be Saturdays, February 18 and 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Keith Bullard Stadium at Central Coosa. Boys and girls from pre-K to sixth grade can play.
Thanks to generous donations from Coosa County churches, the cost for registration is $50 for the first 100 registrants and $87 after.
This registration fee includes the program fee, T-shirt, pants, belt, hat, socks, end of season medal, and tax. Players will need a glove and cleats. Cash or cards only, and individuals are asked to add $2 for card payments.
Practices will take place in the community beginning in mid-April. Games will take place on Saturdays in May and June at Central Coosa. There will be no Coosa Upward in July to allow for family vacations.
Before registering, those interested should understand this is a league of Christian fellowship and positive encouragement of players, coaches and referees.
If you have questions or would like to volunteer or donate to the league, text Debi Stover at 256-401-3281 or join them on Facebook at Upward Coosa.
