The Town of Goodwater has received a Gateway grant in the amount of $2,500 from the Alabama Power Foundation.
“Gateway grants help promote communities statewide through welcome signage, website development, or marketing materials,” said Steven T. Marlowe, Alabama Power community relations manager.
Marlowe made the presentation to Mayor Lonnie Caldwell at the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, January 10, and the town will use these funds to provide signage with programmable messaging in front of Town Hall.
Marlowe said Gateway’s goal is to help revitalize communities, and signs can also help to attract new business and industry to cities and towns.
“The Gateway grant program has helped cities and towns across Alabama to present themselves in a new way,” Marlowe stated. “Whether it is promoting community spirit, encouraging tourism or welcoming economic development, the program is helping communities share their stories.”
