Sen. Clyde Chambliss (R-Prattville) has been appointed to serve as Majority Whip for the Senate Republican Caucus.
Senate Majority Leader Clay Scofield made the announcement as senators convened in Montgomery for an Organizational Session to formalize Senate leadership and committee assignments.
“Senator Chambliss’s attention to detail, keen political insight and strategic-thinking ability make him an invaluable asset in the operation of the Alabama Senate,” Scofield said. “He has the respect and trust of our caucus members, which are paramount to helping us navigate challenges that arise in advancing significant legislation.”
“Senator Chambliss has proven himself as a leader who can handle some of the most significant legislation that has passed the Senate during my tenure,” Reed said. “From protecting the life of the unborn to establishing conservative budgeting practices that safeguard taxpayer resources, Clyde has delivered. I trust his judgement and abilities and am grateful to him for his willingness to serve in this important post.”
As Majority Whip, Chambliss will assist the Majority Leader and President Pro Tem Greg Reed in the management of the Senate floor, ensuring member participation, counting votes and generally advancing the position of the Senate Majority.
