Weogufka man arrested on drug charges

A Weogufka man was arrested last Friday on two drug-related charges following a visit to his residence.

Deputies were reportedly assisting a probation parole officer with a home visit regarding the home of Willis Charles Murphy.

During the home visit, deputies discovered that Murphy had a handgun in his pocket. While there they also found drug paraphernalia.

As such, Murphy, 45 years old of Weogufka, was arrested December 2. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a violent felon.

Murphy has no bond set and as of press time remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
