Exciting things are happening in Goodwater, with a new store coming to provide shoppers a local option while shopping on a budget.
Mayor Lonnie Caldwell and the Goodwater City Council are proud to announce the addition of a new business coming to town. Currently under construction next to the Community Park will be a Family Dollar/Dollar Tree combination store.
“This is a great economic addition to our town and Coosa County,” Mayor Caldwell said.
Work is already being done at the construction site next to the park. The closest such combo stores to Coosa County are located in Dadeville and Eclectic, making this new store a convenient location for Coosa County shoppers and those in surrounding areas.
The Goodwater combo store will be located at 22348 Alabama Highway 9. Adam Brister; project manager with Culbertson Contractors LLC., and who is in charge of the construction of this project; said that these combination stores have a 10,500 square foot footprint.
“They offer traditional Dollar Tree merchandise (party items, school supplies, greeting cards, and seasonal decorations) and Family Dollar items, like frozen/refrigerated food, pantry goods, beauty products, household supplies, and clothing,” Brister stated.
He added that the Goodwater store is slated to open near the end of the first quarter of 2023.
There are nearly 600 of the combination stores open currently, with more in the planning stages. The stores focus on rural locations to help shoppers avoid traveling longer distances to meet their shopping needs.
