With the help of public assistance, the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office was recently able to assist in capturing an inmate who escaped from work release.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that on September 17 two inmate workers had left the Alexander City Work Release Center. The Department of Corrections then signed warrants on the two inmates, Terry Warren and Richard Mordecai, for first-degree escape.
Information was released on social media to help the public be mindful to keep an eye out for the inmates. On September 19, an individual called the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Howell to report that they saw someone who matched the description of one of the escapees.
Howell stated that Deputy Bradberry responded to the area along Alabama Highway 22 near Alabama Highway 9 and located 47-year-old Terry Dale Warren of Alexandria, whom Bradberry took into custody.
Warren was arrested on the charge of first-degree escape and was then turned over to the Department of Corrections.
On September 21 Mordecai was also located and taken into custody by Alexander City police officers.
