A man and woman from outside the county were arrested on assault and other charges following an altercation, with the man just being arrested last week in connection to the case from July.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that deputies had responded to an assault that occurred on Cedar Circle in Coosa County, outside of the Weogufka area.
He reported that the two suspects, 37-year-old Charles Brown and 31-year-old Magen Lejeune, were at the residence, and an altercation took place. The victims ran into the residence, after which Brown reportedly kicked the door in to pursue the victims.
Howell stated that both Brown and Lejeune entered the residence and “jumped on” the victims, with Brown allegedly attacking the male victim and Lejeune allegedly attacking the female victim. Both victims reportedly sustained injuries from the assault.
Lejeune, of Montevallo, was arrested on July 21 on the charges of third-degree burglary, third-degree assault and second-degree criminal mischief. Her total bond was set at $10,000, and she was released on bond the same day.
Brown, of Brewton, was arrested August 17 for the same three charges. His total bond was set at $10,000, and as of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail in Rockford awaiting trial.
