Children participating in the BridgeWays Summer Day Camp recently held a community service project. They worked a lemonade stand just north of Rockford, selling cups of lemonade for donations to C.O.A.C.H., or Cancer Outreach and Community Hope, Coosa County’s organization to provide assistance to Coosa families dealing with a cancer diagnosis. In just two hours the day campers raised $285 for C.O.A.C.H. Campers then gave the proceeds to Debra Lamberth and Pam Weathers, volunteers for C.O.A.C.H. The Summer Day Camp children do a service project once a week. BridgeWays Regional Director Lynn Anne Castleberry says, “We believe you are never too young to learn the value of giving back to your community.”
This week the children made dog toys for local animal shelters, and next week they will participate in the Lake Martin Area United Way Day of Action at Central High School Coosa County. Week-long day camps are still available for July 25-29 and August 1-5, and single day options are also available. For more information on the day camp contact Castleberry at 813-363-0495 or email lynnanne.castleberry@bridgewaysal.org. Photo submitted
