An Alexander City woman was arrested earlier this month in a case involving a stolen vehicle.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that on July 6 a report was filed with the Sheriff’s Office for a stolen vehicle at Sneaky Pete’s/Texaco in Kellyton.
He explained that the owner of the vehicle had an individual with him, Hayden Ellerbe. Howell stated that Ellerbe convinced the vehicle owner to go inside the store.
The victim left his keys in the car, and Ellerbe allegedly stole his vehicle while he was in the store.
Howell said that they located the vehicle and proceeded to make an arrest in reference to her allegedly stealing the vehicle. Ellerbe, 20 years old, was arrested on July 7 in Selma.
She was charged with first-degree theft of property for stealing the vehicle. Her bond was set at $25,000, and as of press time she remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
