A Mississippi man was arrested earlier this month on drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Coosa County.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that Deputy Bradberry was on patrol in the area of highways 22 and 9 when he conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. After stopping the vehicle, he made contact with the driver and smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Bradberry proceeded to conduct a search of the vehicle and located pills inside it, as well as more than 6 grams of marijuana and a firearm. Howell reported that the pills were believed to be ecstasy.
The driver; 25-year-old Anfernee Clair of Brookhaven, Mississippi; was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of a concealed weapon without a permit.
His total bond for all three charges was set at $1,000. He has since been released on bond to await trial.
Anyone who observes or suspects illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
