Special to the News
Central Elementary invited families to their annual End of Year Awards Program to celebrate their student’s achievements.
Central Elementary School counselor, Aniyah Thomas, presented medals to students for all year, all A Honor Roll and certificates for all year, A/B Honor Roll students, and medals for students with perfect attendance for the year.
Teachers presented Accelerated Reader (AR) awards, as well. According to the AR website, “Accelerated Reader (AR) is a proven literacy development tool that motivates K–12 readers, supports core instruction and helps build literacy skills identified by the Science of Reading research. With over 220,000 quizzes, students engage in wide reading practice, while teachers gain actionable insights to guide instruction and monitor growth. Accelerated Reader motivates students to read more and read more widely through goal setting, personalized recommendations and engaging quizzes. As students increase their reading volume, they build reading stamina, word recognition and language comprehension skills.”
Students who met their grade level AR point goal for the year received a certificate and a goody bag, and the students with the most points per grade level received a certificate and a small trophy.
Congratulations to the students with more than 100 points; Alanah Solis, Zayra Garcia Cruz, Josselin Lopez, Carlee Marbury, Rahiem Shealey; who were awarded with a backpack and lapel pin.
A special congratulations to the student with the most points in the school, Alanah Solis, who received a large trophy.
