A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:52 a.m. last Friday, May 22, has claimed the life of an Opelika man.
Bonifacio Angel Bartolon, 56, was fatally injured when the 1996 Toyota 4Runner he was a passenger in left the roadway, overturned and struck a ditch along with several trees. Bartolon was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the 4Runner; Mynor Ramirez Joel Morales, 39, of Auburn; was also injured and transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.
The crash occurred on Rock Springs Road near Rifle Range Road, approximately 10 miles west of Tallassee, in Elmore County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
