January 19
The Rockford Utilities Board will meet at 6 p.m. at the Board Office on Monday, January 19. The Utilities Board is located at 9301 U.S. Hwy. 231, Rockford, near Dollar General. For more information call 256-935-4004.
January 25
The Coosa County Historical Society quarterly meeting will be held on Sunday, January 25, at 2 p.m. at the “old Rockford school” on County Road 18. Special guest speaker will be Chip Gates, historian of the Lake Mitchell HOBO Association. He will be discussing Native American history in western Coosa County, the history of Fixico Creek and the Fixico mines, the history of Little Joe’s Fish Camp, as well as the community of Dollar which is now covered by Lake Mitchell. He will share stories, photos and a few mementos during his program. You don’t have to be a member, and the public is invited. Refreshments will be served.
January 26
The Coosa County Conservation District Board of Supervisors will meet on Monday, January 26, at 10 a.m. at the District office located at 226 Coosa County Road 157 in the Hanover community.
January 27
The Coosa County Republican Party will meet on Tuesday, January 27, at the Coosa E-911 building in Rockford. Guest speakers will include Rep. Ben Robbins and Public Service Commission candidate Matt Gentry. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from local 2026 candidates. Public meetings are a great opportunity to stay informed, engage with our elected officials and candidates and connect with fellow conservatives as we begin the new year.
We encourage all members and interested citizens to attend and be part of the conversation. The evening will begin with fellowship and refreshments at 6 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there.

It’s that time again! Summer Camp registration is now OPEN. This year’s theme is mythical creatures! The cost of camp is $175 and includes lodging, meals, a shirt, and most importantly lots of fun! Spots will go quick! Half of the payment is due by check or money order by Feb. 26! The remaining balance will be due April 17! Have any questions? The Coosa County Extension office is once again having Spring Wellness Day, complete with a 36-foot interactive RV! The Extension is offering this on two dates to reach as many in the county as possible. Please join us in Rockford on March 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Rockford Event Center to participate.

Weekly
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Monthly
Richville Neighborhood Watch will be held the first Thursday of each month at the fire department, 13185 Coosa County Rd. 14, Rockford, 35136. The gathering begins with a potluck meal at 6 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Come out and see what is happening in your community.

Monthly breakfast returns to West Coosa Senior Center! The West Coosa Senior Center in Stewartville will host breakfast on the fourth Saturday of each month from 7-10 a.m. at the center, located at 47 Coosa County Road 70, Sylacauga, 35151 (the old Stewartville School). Breakfast is $8 per plate with choice of ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, gravies, and more! Dine in or call ahead at 256-249-2024 to carry out. Donations appreciated! Breakfast will be served monthly now through October, with it not being held in November or December.

West Coosa Friday Night Dance & Dine will be held the second Friday of each month at the West Coosa Senior Center! Live oldies music by The Misfitz Band, Potluck supper – bring your favorite covered dish to share. Doors open at 5 p.m., and supper starts at 5:15 p.m. Admission is FREE! Quarterly
The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!
