October 2-4

Marble Valley Volunteer Fire Department will host its 12th Annual Open House and Yard Sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 2-4, at 2373 Coosa County Road 5, Sylacauga, 35151 (also known as Marble Valley Road). Come join us for our open house! There will be a daily drawing – one ticket per person, per day. Cost is free, and you do not have to be present to win. 100% of all yard sale proceeds go to the fire department. To schedule a donation drop off call Lester or Karen at 256-249-4996 or 256-404-2057. All donations are tax deductible.

 

October 4

Come enjoy Pumpkin Patch Day at Kelly’s Crossroads! On Saturday, October 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kelly’s Crossroads is hosting its very own pumpkin patch! Free entry – you only pay if you pick out a pumpkin to take home. Photo backdrop, perfect for family pictures and fall vibes. Local vendors welcome – set up for free! Register via a link on their Facebook page or call 256-935-1442 for details. BBQ sandwich special available during the event! Bring the family, shop local, grab lunch, and kick off fall with us! Kelly’s Crossroads is located at the intersection of Alabama Highway 22 and County Road 29 in Richville.

 

October 6

In honor of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, please join us for a Domestic Violence Awareness Class on Monday, October 6, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Goodwater Youth Development Center, located at 166 Harris Street. For more information call Shannon at 256-377-4713.

 

October 7

In honor of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, please join us for a Domestic Violence Awareness Class on Tuesday, October 7, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Coosa County Extension Office, located in the Hanover community at 243 Coosa Co. October 9

In recognition of its partnerships, the Coosa County Soil Conservation District invites everyone to join them on Thursday, October 9, between 1 and 3 p.m. at the Rockford Event Center for “Conservation in Coosa County.” Representatives will be available to provide information on programs and technical assistance available to Coosa County landowners related to agriculture, wildlife and conservation. This is an informal event so attendees can speak individually with agencies of their choice. Twelve agencies/organizations are expected to participate. October 10

The Coosa County Cattlemen’s Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. October 10, at the Cattlemen’s building in Hanover. Cake auction to benefit the Buddy Gilliland Scholarship Fund. Cakes are welcome. Bring a guest! There will be a love offering taken for one of the members to help during a time of sickness.

 

October 26

The Coosa County Historical Society will hold its quarterly meeting Sunday, October 26, at 2 p.m. at Edgewood Plantation, located at 14946 Alabama Highway 22, Rockford. Everyone is invited!

 

November 8

Fall Festival in downtown Goodwater will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. November 8. Vendor fee: $25 for small businesses. Registration deadline: October 25. For more information email sharonnah25@mail.com.

 

November 14

The Goodwater Youth Development & Recreational Center will host “Soup and Chili: Give Back to the Community” on Friday, November 14, from 12 p.m. until at the Goodwater YDRC at 166 Harris Street, Goodwater. Join us for a warm meal, fellowship and community spirit! FREE event – all are welcome! Come enjoy delicious homemade soup and chili as we give back to our community with love and gratitude.

 

Weekly

The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Monthly

Richville Neighborhood Watch will be held the first Thursday of each month at the fire department, 13185 Coosa County Rd. 14, Rockford, 35136. The gathering begins with a potluck meal at 6 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Come out and see what is happening in your community.

Monthly breakfast returns to West Coosa Senior Center! The West Coosa Senior Center in Stewartville will host breakfast on the fourth Saturday of each month from 7-10 a.m. at the center, located at 47 Coosa County Road 70, Sylacauga, 35151 (the old Stewartville School). Breakfast is $8 per plate with choice of ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, gravies, and more! Dine in or call ahead at 256-249-2024 to carry out. Donations appreciated! Breakfast will be served monthly now through October, with it not being held in November or December.

West Coosa Friday Night Dance & Dine will be held the second Friday of each month at the West Coosa Senior Center! Live oldies music by The Misfitz Band, Potluck supper – bring your favorite covered dish to share. Doors open at 5 p.m., and supper starts at 5:15 p.m. Admission is FREE! This is a family friendly event – no alcohol! Friday Night Dance & Dine is proudly sponsored by J&J Pest Away. The senior center is located at 47 Coosa County Road 70, Stewartville, 35151.

 

Quarterly

The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!
