Union Square News

The Union Square community sends many blessings to Rockford Mayor Scott White, his family and to all Rockford residents.
Congratulations to Jaden Tuck, who was elected as the youngest member of the Alexander City City Council. We are very proud of this young man and send out powerful prayers to him and his family, with much love and respect.
Sincere prayers go to the Hoyett family in the loss of Mr. Henry L. Hoyett and Mrs. Betty McKinney. Hoyett’s home-going was very nice. The eulogy was done by Pastor Fred Lee, and no one else could have done it any better. The choir was awesome, and those great musicians, who are family members, were terrific!
I was unable to attend Mrs. Betty McKinney’s home-going, and I regret that. Mrs. McKinney was a very sweet person, very dear to me. She is definitely missed already, especially by the J.D. Thompson High School Alumni Association, who is having a special unveiling ceremony of the historical marker for the Coosa County Training School at 10 a.m. on September 26, in Cottage Grove at 1854 Coosa County Road 93.
Everyone is encouraged to come out and enjoy a little bit of history of Cottage Grove and other great things.
Our hearts are saddened in the loss of Mr. Larry Carden, a person I grew up with – he and his brother Joe Frank. I looked after their two little brothers sometimes, Ray and Mack.
We go a long way back, to their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mack People; mom and dad, Jones and Brookie Carden; uncles, aunts and cousins.
Larry was a great guy. We will miss him, the last of the brothers.
These last couple of weeks have been tough for me with this allergy driving me crazy, along with other things, but I still trust and praise God.
I am not ashamed to admit that I am a disciple of Jesus, and I won’t back up, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift my prayers, and labor by the Holy Spirit’s power.
Let us stand strong when our faith is tested. God is able to guard what we have entrusted to Him, our lives and our future, and the courage to be unashamed to live for Christ.
Happy birthday to Bonnie Abrams, Asberry Scott, Chat Lee, Shirley Ogle, and all September born.
Praying for the Carden family and all who are experiencing lost loved ones.
