August 16
Join us on August 16 in Stewartville for an adorable and fun cookie decorating class! It’s for the beginner or those just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies and found yourself frustrated with royal icing, this is the class for you. We will do a fun football themed set that tastes amazing and will look even better once you’ve finished decorating! We provide everything you need, including a box to take your awesome creations home, as well as our awesome recipes. Class starts at 10 a.m. and will last about one and a half hours. Class limited to 20 people. Class is good for ages 8 and up. Class costs $50 per person, and you must reserve your seat in advance as space is limited. Millerville Trade Day: Third Saturday Weekend Trade Day at Millerville Community Center will be held Saturday, August 16, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sunday following from 1-3 p.m. Many items for sale in the school building. Set-up outside to sell your items for free. Food items are available on Saturday. Call 205-317-7798 for additional information.

The next meeting of the Coosa County Conservation District Board will be on Monday, August 18, at 10 a.m. at the District Office, located at 226 Coosa County Road 157, Rockford, 35136. The annual Local Working Group meeting will be held immediately following the Board meeting.

ServSafe Managers Course: Boost food safety skills with ServSafe training! Working in food service? Need a ServSafe certification? Alabama Extension’s ServSafe training program gives food service workers the tools they need to succeed. These classes meet food service safety standards required by the Alabama Department of Public Health. This course will be held September 8 and 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Coosa County E-911 office, located at 66 Communication Drive in Rockford. Register at this link: aces.edu/go/servsafe. Herb Garden to Pantry: Come learn how to grow, preserve and cook with fresh herbs. This class will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. September 10, at the I-HOPE Center, located at 166 Harris Street in Goodwater. Registration is FREE. The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Monthly
Richville Neighborhood Watch will be held the first Thursday of each month at the fire department, 13185 Coosa County Rd. 14, Rockford, 35136. The gathering begins with a potluck meal at 6 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Come out and see what is happening in your community.

Monthly breakfast returns to West Coosa Senior Center! The West Coosa Senior Center in Stewartville will host breakfast on the fourth Saturday of each month from 7-10 a.m. at the center, located at 47 Coosa County Road 70, Sylacauga, 35151 (the old Stewartville School). Breakfast is $8 per plate with choice of ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, gravies, and more! Dine in or call ahead at 256-249-2024 to carry out. Donations appreciated! Breakfast will be served monthly now through October, with it not being held in November or December.

West Coosa Friday Night Dance & Dine will be held the second Friday of each month at the West Coosa Senior Center! Live oldies music by The Misfitz Band, Potluck supper – bring your favorite covered dish to share. Doors open at 5 p.m., and supper starts at 5:15 p.m. Admission is FREE! Quarterly
The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend.
