Equality & NIxburg News
Jennifer Williamson
We have lost another goose and a gosling. I really am devastated and not sure I want to continue raising animals when some protect these predators because they feel they are pretty.
I have put up fences, coops, electric, had the boys peeing around the perimeter, setting traps, and yet my livestock still suffers from attacks. I don’t feel caging my animals is ethical, but I have started confining some more and more; they are not happy even though this is for their own good.
I closed the store to spend time with my family. All our kids and youngest grandson came together for a week of fun. Sad to miss out with my oldest grandson, but he could not get leave from the Air Force to join us.
I made breakfast for everyone each morning, and each adult child was responsible for dinner. I still had to work because of the whole government contract thing I lost all my leave. They went out and had adventures, but at least I got evenings with my family together. Maybe next year will be better and I can go out and join them rather than working.
Jenny’s General got some new products for children on summer break. Junior Adventurer items like magnifying glasses, binoculars, flashlights, and mini-microscopes, as well as balsa-wood airplanes and build-a-bird kits, and dancing ribbon wands. So if you have a young one who gets bored when out of school, come find a summer adventure for them.
Once again, the EVFD will be selling butts/ribs for Memorial Day weekend. Reserve yours today by contacting Jackie at 256-786-1169 or Jean at 256-537-1884. Text your order today because EVFD has sold out in the last few years, and as you know, it’s really good! I have ordered mine and can’t wait to get it this weekend.
Vintage Vibe will be playing at Coosa Live tonight, Friday, May 23, from 7 to 9. We are hoping for another great crowd to show up and enjoy some live music. This band has had a number of gigs around the area with great success, so come on out and enjoy an evening supporting a local business and local band.
I know many get home after a long work week and find it hard to leave the house again, but a short drive to just show your support would mean a lot for us. You don’t have to stay the whole event. Thank you for your support.
I depend upon my readers to share with me what is happening within your organizations, churches, neighborhoods, groups, or family to share in next week’s column. Please contact me; leave a voice message or text 256-531-6460 or email at coosacafe@gmail.com.
