Diamond Doll Harper Elliott
The pre-game ceremony celebrated three Lady Cougar senior softball players and the senior Diamond Dolls, including their accomplishments and their future plans.
All the senior Diamond Dolls will also be acknowledged at the baseball senior night ceremony Thursday, as the paper goes to press, with the exception of Harper Elliott, the head Diamond Doll for the softball field.
Harper ran the concession register for every home softball game, came early to the games to prepare the concession and was the last one to leave at night. We appreciate Harper’s volunteer service in helping the concession run smoothly for our spectators’ game day enjoyment.
All three of our senior softball players have played for Central for six years, starting in the seventh grade.
Reagan Cardwell; who has played as a shortstop, second base, outfield, and pitcher; was joined by her parents, Valerie Hall and Darrell Cardwell.
ZyNedria Edwards; who has played first base, third base, outfield, and catcher; was joined by her mom, Donna Chestner, and brother, Quin Benson.
Brynlee Hawthorne; who has predominantly pitched, but also played first and third base; was joined by her parents, Tony and Ashley Hawthorne, as well as her grandparents, Danny and Deborah Hawthorne .
All the seniors had great memories with their teammates to share and special words of thanks to their coaches and parents. It was a ceremony filled with tears and laughter that celebrated these young ladies who have spent a third of their lives playing softball at Central.
They also shared their future plans, and we are proud that they all have such promising futures ahead of them.
Thank you to head coach Chris Elliott and assistant coaches Alan Reeser, Jenny Kimbrell and Kali Snell for the countless hours you have dedicated to our senior players. Thank you, also, to the parents for your support of the softball program, as well as athletic director Debbie Phillips for sharing pictures. Cougar Pride!
