The Buzz
Buzzy the Buzzard
The legislative session is more than half over. A little bird told me that this is the most likely time for local bills to be introduced.
Before a local law can be introduced, a legislator must run a public notice in the local county newspaper once a week for four weeks.
So, how in the world are people supposed to be aware of local laws before they are introduced? I guarantee they are not going to pop up on Google. They run in “The Coosa County News,” or “The Daily Home” (Talladega County), or the “Moulton Advertiser” (Limestone County), or the rest of the half of the state that has one newspaper. In print, no less.
In my not-so-humble opinion, the Legislature needs to be doing everything it can to support community news. End of story for today.
Your eye in the sky,
Buzzy
