February 5-April 9
Volunteer Connections of Central Alabama Inc., along with the Coosa County Extension Office and Coosa County Chamber of Commerce, are once again sponsoring a free tax assistance program. Certified and trained tax preparers will provide free tax assistance and electronic filing of federal and state income tax forms in Rockford for those who are eligible for the free program. This service will be available every Wednesday from February 5 through April 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rockford Methodist Church, 9916 U.S. Hwy. 231. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments will have priority. Call VCCA in Alexander City at 256-234-0347 to make an appointment for the Rockford location.

Bingo Night at Bibb Graves Community Center in Millerville will be Saturday March 27, from 5-8 p.m. Bingo cards are 50 cents each. Door prizes. Fun for all ages. Food available.
April 4
People with disabilities, caregivers, service providers, and anyone curious about assistive technology in Coosa County are invited to attend the Accessing Potential Through Assistive Technology (APTAT) Rural Roadshow in Rockford. The event, which will take place Friday, April 4, from noon to 6 p.m. at the County Extension Office (243 Coosa County Road 75) will demonstrate the ways assistive technology can help remove barriers to living, working and playing independently, making life easier for those with disabilities. April 5
The Richville Volunteer Fire Department and Neighborhood Watch will host Spring Fling from 4 to 6 p.m. on April 5, followed by Bingo at 6:30. There will be games for kids and adults alike. Donations of cakes and baked goods are needed for the cake walk, as well as new toys for the toy walk. They will also be selling concessions. More details to come.
April 10
Save the Date: The Joel D. Glover TREASURE Forest Landowner Tour will be held Thursday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The tour will be on the Kelly Property, located at 3422 Coosa County Road 5 (Marble Valley Road), Sylacauga, 35151. Topics: Pollinator Habitats, Quail Management, Trapping, and Pond Management. This event is FREE to all landowners. April 12
The Town of Rockford and Rockford Public Library’s annual Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday, April 12, beginning at 10 a.m. at the football field. For more information, call 256-377-4911.
April 19
The Coosa County High School Alumni Association will hold its annual banquet in Rockford at the old high school gymnasium, AKA the Rockford Event Center, at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. Everyone who has graduated or attended CCHS, their spouses and children are invited to attend. Please bring a covered dish and your best stories to share. Paper products, utensils, soft drinks, ice, and tea will be provided.
May 31
Rockford’s Spring Fling and vendor event will be held Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in and around the town’s playground. Complete details coming soon!
June 16-18
Summer Camp is June 16-18 at the Alabama 4-H Center in Columbiana. Registration for regular 4-H Summer Camp is now open in 4HOnline. 4-H members ages 9-13 are invited to participate. Coosa County 4-H has 20 camp spots, and they are available on a first come, first served basis. Register in 4HOnline at v2.4honline.com. Payment can be made in full in 4HOnline. Camp fee is $175. Camp session for Coosa County is scheduled for Session 5: June 16-18. Registration for Teen 4-H opens on February 3 for camp for ages 14-18. Need to know more? Weekly
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Monthly
Richville Neighborhood Watch will be held the first Thursday of each month at the fire department, 13185 Coosa County Rd. 14, Rockford, 35136. The gathering begins with a potluck meal at 6 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Come out and see what is happening in your community.

Monthly breakfast returns to West Coosa Senior Center! The West Coosa Senior Center in Stewartville will host breakfast on the fourth Saturday of each month from 7-10 a.m. at the center, located at 47 Coosa County Road 70, Sylacauga, 35151 (the old Stewartville School). Breakfast is $6 per plate with choice of ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, gravies, and more! Dine in or call ahead at 256-249-2024 to carry out. Donations appreciated! Breakfast will be served monthly now through October, with it not being held in November or December.

West Coosa Friday Night Dance & Dine will be held the second Friday of each month at the West Coosa Senior Center! Live oldies music by The Misfitz Band, Potluck supper – bring your favorite covered dish to share. Doors open at 5 p.m., and supper starts at 5:15 p.m. Admission is FREE! This is a family friendly event – no alcohol! Friday Night Dance & Dine is proudly sponsored by J&J Pest Away. The senior center is located at 47 Coosa County Road 70, Stewartville, 35151.
Quarterly
The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!
