Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
It’s Spring Break time for schools! Teachers, students and staff will have one week off. At one point, it was called AEA break because the association had a conference during that time for teachers. So, while students and staff got a break, teachers had a couple of days of mandatory attendance. Then, the rest were volunteers.
Plans are being finalized for the Richville Volunteer Fire Department and Neighborhood Watch Spring Fling on April 5 from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by Bingo at 6:30. There will be games for kids and adults. Plans are still being made so more details to follow.
They need donations of cakes and baked goods for the cake walk and new toys for the toy walk. They will also be selling concessions. More details to come next week.
There are still a few more Wednesdays that you can drop off your taxes at Rockford Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Then on April 9, it will be pickups only.
The Historical Society is getting ready to open the Old Rock Jail beginning April 6. In preparation, we will be cleaning on Saturday, March 22, beginning at 9 a.m. All members are encouraged to come out and help. It will not be open for tours during this cleaning.
Again, this week’s Bible verse is about change. James 1:17 reads, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
James is telling us that God is the source of all the good you have and crave. That good and perfect gift is Jesus Christ who died for our sins. Regardless of our circumstances, God does not change. He’s there for you without variation.
While the world around us changes and continues to do so, God doesn’t. His love is there for us if we only believe in Him and accept Him into our hearts. Even when we stray away from His will, He’s still there for us to come back.
I am so thankful that my God is there for me through all I experience. You can depend on Him to get you through life. That doesn’t mean that we never encounter sadness or troubles, but that God is there for us to lean on during those times.
Be in prayer for all those that are sick in our community. But also, think about giving someone a call just to say hello; it will make a difference in their day. Many times, when we go out to spread blessings to others, it’s us that gets the blessing.
