On Tuesday, March 18, the Alabama Department of Corrections led a coordinated law enforcement operation in Lee County, aimed at apprehending individuals with state and federal warrants.
ADOC joined forces with the following agencies for this operation: U.S. Marshals Service, Middle District of Alabama; Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force; U.S. Attorneys Office, Middle District of Alabama; and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
In addition, ADOC also received assistance from Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Bullock County Sheriff’s Office, Opelika Police Department, and Auburn Police Department.
This operation is part of a broader initiative to not only apprehend wanted criminals, but to combat contraband, particularly illegal drugs, within the state and its correctional facilities.
Arrest warrants were executed for:
- Darius Briscoe, state warrants for conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime and conspiracy to promote prison contraband
- Taliyah Oliver, state warrants for conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime and conspiracy to promote prison contraband
- Tylexus Shorter, state warrants for conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime and conspiracy to promote prison contraband
- Jerald Massey, state warrants for conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime and conspiracy to promote prison contraband
Three other individuals were arrested on federal warrants.
“ADOC’s partnership with local and federal law enforcement agencies strengthens our collective efforts to ensure public safety by upholding and enforcing the law,” said ADOC Commissioner John Q. Hamm.
These investigations are ongoing, and further arrests are pending.
