A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, has claimed the life of a man who had connections to Coosa County.
Rickey T. Montz, 68, of Kellyton, and previously of Plano, Texas, was fatally injured when the 2013 Lincoln MKS he was driving left the roadway and struck an embankment. Montz was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Coosa County Road 42 near Coosa County Road 127, approximately five miles east of Rockford, between the Hissop community and Kellyton, in Coosa County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
ALEA had reported that Montz was a resident of Texas, but records reflect that he had moved back to Coosa County and had a Kellyton address.
