Special to the News
Shortly before Christmas break the Central Elementary School after school STEM program held a celebration with parents.
Program director Shannon White said, “We are so proud of the number of parents who came to participate and work alongside their children to explore their creativity in making Christmas ornaments.”
A significant part of the STEM program is to highlight how important parents are in the success of their children and engaging their creative minds. Many more families are taking advantage of this great opportunity for their child to receive extended learning after school, as well as an after school meal.
The program has grown from 30 students to 80, which also means increased parental involvement. Amazingly, the after school STEM program and after school meal are provided at no additional cost to parents.
We are thankful to SAFE of Sylacauga for funding the program through a grant we apply for each year.
